Brevard Public Schools is proud to announce that West Shore Jr./Sr. High School has been recognized as a 2024 National Blue Ribbon School by the U.S. Department of Education. This prestigious award celebrates schools for their academic excellence or their significant progress in closing achievement gaps among student groups.
West Shore Principal Burt Clark remarked, “This award is a reflection of the collective effort of our entire community—our students, teachers, staff, and families. It is an honor to be recognized on a national level, and we are inspired to continue striving for excellence.”
This distinction marks the fourth time West Shore Jr./Sr. High School has received the National Blue Ribbon Award, having previously been recognized in 2004, 2012, and 2014. The continued dedication by school leadership, faculty members, and staff on high-quality instruction, ongoing professional development, and the use of data-driven approaches to ensure every student can thrive should be commended.
As a National Blue Ribbon School, West Shore Jr./Sr. High School will receive a plaque and a flag during the official awards ceremony in Washington, D.C., later this year. The school's accomplishments will also be highlighted on the U.S. Department of Education’s website as a model for other schools nationwide.
Superintendent Dr. Mark Rendell expressed immense pride, stating, “This is quite an achievement and certainly a reason for celebration. However, this is not the first time that West Shore has been named a Blue Ribbon school. The rich history of strong academic performance at West Shore is to be commended.”
